Cosmic Clothes

This word from their site www.cosmicclothes.net, explain what Cosmic Clothes:

Life begins at thirteen. It's time to explore our limitation. We are not children anymore. We are New Kids on the Block, at our age of thirteen. We started to get introduced something which we didn't get when we were younger. We knew, we liked, and we tried to reach out for it. We accepted culture freely because we had felt mature. Choosing what we like was a pride to be existentialists We're the boys and the boys don't cry anymore.
Being different was our childhood dreams. Our "seniors" were the generation of Paul Simon, Andi Warhol, Jarvis Cocker, Trent Reznor, Basquiat, and other millions of creative people who found their identities through various ways. They were different, they produced something, and what we want were just be like them. It was a pride when we felt different from others. It felt like pointing on someone's face saying, "Now you can't see what we are like..!
We were not the flower generation of the Woodstock one. But, our eyes and ears felt what they felt. Their music was our music that we heard when we were getting older. Their behaviors were the behaviors we did daily. They and us were the same "young and dangerous". Leaving early, returning at dawn.We were not the flower generation of the Woodstock one. But, our eyes and ears felt what they felt. Their music was our music that we heard when we were getting older. Their behaviors were the behaviors we did daily. They and us were the same "young and dangerous". Leaving early, returning at dawn.
AFTER THE 20th
A return point happened in 2001. Life had got to be changed. Opening the old CDs collection and got stopped when Descendent sang the "I Don't Want to Grow Up" song. It was nice and shocked me enough. Yeah there was a responsibility for the next ten or twenty years ahead. A big question popped up from my brain, could we stick together, we could choose, and there would be nothing changed? Attitude had become a real limit between us and others. We have to be different from another youth. We have to be creative. We are young guns.
We have to try to produce something. At September 1, 2001, we launched our classic modern apparel products. "Yeah we are the people living in the human creativity invasion after the second of World War (60-80s)". That's us. "We are lucky to experience the technology of tapes, pixels, film negatives, etc; and we would like to share all visually.
Our first products were produced at Jl. Aceh, Bandung, which later became our second shop house. The production at that time was countable and distributed to some of our friends' stores in Bandung. Our half a dozen products were sold out within days. We continued to produce other designs.
Because of the demand increasing, our production house was getting bigger. The low production house had become a home industry. Together along the production amount increasing and the distribution demands, finally we build our first shop house at Jl. Progo (2003). We gathered, played and worked everyday there.
After second store built at Jl. Aceh, we felt finally that we had to explore out potential somewhere else. We then opened our third shop house in Klampis, Surabaya (2005). A gig called "Go East" held with the coming of our Bandung friends (Pure Saturday, Sendal Jepit, Buckskin Bugle, etc) to perform in Surabaya.
We also tried to build what we had felt in Bandung before. Refresh Your Sunday (our monthly musical event from the 1st till 20th month) were held in Surabaya. Street events, school events, malls, even universities events were our destinations.
Some of the skateboarding events, bombers, and art works exhibitions were held inside the store or other formal place.
In the year of 2006, we moved our first shop house into Trunojoyo area with an event called "Turn on Joy", and once again we asked some of our friends to sing together (Homogenic, Mobil Derek, Polyester Embassy, Friday, etc). At the same time, Jl. Aceh turned into a production place. Also in 2006, Jl. Tanjung became our place for our creativity and playground with our friends rather than a term "working at the office".
In 2007, we asked our friends from Bandung to hold an exhibition together with fifty participants from clothing industries and sixty bands at Basuki Rahmat Surabaya, join in a three days event called "Joy Invasion". Let's talk about culture. Our cultural spirit we felt back then was spread widely outside Bandung.
In 2008, we opened another shop house at Jl. Buah Batu Bandung, while launching our innovative Naif-Cosmic USB Series, with the exclusive live performance of Naif Band in our store. By this year, the innovation was continually done.
We reproduced tie-dyed stuff to remind the flower generation, hippie society, the legendary music works (Morrissey, The Clash, etc) which were in our tees, custom sneakers from our creative friends (David Naif, Jimi Upstairs, Oomleo Goodnight, etc), even our creative video production was premiered at Victoria University, Australia-where we given the chance to have an official exhibition. The year of 2008 was a tiring year. We even opened another shophouse at La Walon area in Kuta Bali. It was a great job.
It has been eight years of creativity, our creativity. During this eight years, we have lived through the same spirit and attitude. We are here because we have been together all this time. Searching for an attitude to make our choices together during that long process. Making all the ideas become possible.
From just the two of us, together now, we and the others have felt what we have felt since we become New Kids on the Block. Life is not about me. Life is about us. Life is about COSMIC. Life is a journey.
